Got Milk...cause I can have it!

I'm a little behind on posting this, but we recently went back to the Allergist. Emerson was scheduled to be retested for her milk and soy allergies. We were hopeful that the skin test would show that she outgrew both allergies. As we talked to the doctor, he thought maybe she might have other allergies due to the increase in eczema that we have seen on her skin. Therefore, instead of just testing her for the milk and soy, we decided to test her for all of the most common allergies (fish, eggs, wheat, etc.). We were very nervous about the testing because Emerson had a fit the last time she was tested, however, this time was completely different. She was great. The end result...the skin test showed that she was no longer allergic to milk and soy!! It also showed that she was not allergic to any of the others she was tested for. We were AMAZED! The doctor did inform us that she could still test positive on a blood test, but we could start by slowly reintroducing milk and soy and see how she tolerates it. By "slowly" he meant "very slowly". Needless to say, the change in diet has been somewhat of a challenge. We were told to start by giving her food with milk/soy cooked into it, for a couple weeks. The next step would be to give her yogurt and cheese and then the final step would be to give her small amounts of milk. We are still working on step number one...not completely in belief that she has outgrown her allergies. Some have said that she may just be getting used to the change in her diet. We shall see. Casey and I aren't really sure that this has made things easier....or harder! So, no ice cream cone as of yet, but maybe one day!
