My sweet boy has had more than his fair share of ear infections. Multiple ear infections with multiple rounds of antibiotics. I can't imagine what that was like for him. We decided, with the advice of the pediatrician and ENT, that tubes would be best for Gavin. The ENT recommended having his adenoids removed too. We decided that we would start with tubes...and hopefully that would be enough. He was to have nothing to eat or drink after midnight, the night before the surgery. I was so worried because Gavin is the kid that wakes up and two seconds later is asking for food and a drink. We had to be there at 6am and the surgery was scheduled for 730am. He did great. He was a bit anxious at first, but with a little medicine to calm him, he was just fine. You hear stories about how children wake from anesthesia so I was concerned about how he would react. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. We managed. We were sent home soon after and you would never have known he just had tubes placed. He wanted to play outside a few hours later. He woke the next morning full of energy...bouncing off the walls. Cross your fingers that this will work. We sure are!
