Emerson Update

This sweet girl is getting ready to track out for her first break.  I figured an update was in order.  It's been a while!  Well, first grade has been a bit of an adjustment.  From what I understand, first grade is much harder than kindergarten.  There are more tests and more homework, both of which we are not fond of.  Emerson is also learning a lot about building new friendships and "filling the buckets" of others.  So much change is taking place at this age.  It has been an adjustment for mommy and daddy too!  She recently (yesterday) lost her 6th tooth.  She, unfortunately, has a mouth like her mommy....small.  She will likely not have enough room in her mouth for all of her new teeth and may need a little help from the dentist.  She still walks around the house half naked.  I actually just mentioned how she comes in from school and within minutes she takes off her shorts/pants.  She's a hot bodied little thing that would live in panties, all day, every day.  She still wakes up between 6 and 6:30 every morning.  She is very self-sufficient.  She gets dressed and gets her own breakfast before I even have my cup of coffee!  Bedtime is between 7 and 8pm. She is reading on her own at bedtime, after we read to Gavin.  Emerson falls asleep so easily.  Her brother, not so much!  She is definitely still into art and she uses her creativity in the most amazing ways.  She is constantly coming up with new things to make or draw.  She is dessert driven.  She will eat anything for dinner if it means she can have dessert!  Her favorite is ice cream...even though it upsets her tummy every time.  She's not a huge fan of bread and would eat oatmeal for breakfast most mornings.  This school year has been harder on all of us, it seems.  Only having nights and weekends to spend with each other has been hard.  We just try to make the most out of it.  Laying in bed at night is my favorite time to spend with her.  She might look like her daddy, but she is all me.  So, that was a whole lot of randomness!!  She's a sweet girl and I'm so proud of her!
