Holidays 2011

I think it may be a bit of an understatement to say that Christmas was certainly full of surprises this year. Over the past year, we have dealt with many colds being passed from Emerson to Gavin, and occassionally to mama. We have not had the healthiest of households. The week before Christmas Emerson came down with a cold. We can pretty much guarentee that is Eme has a cold, Gavin will soon have it too. We were right. Gavin came down with the same cold and on top of that he was fighting double ear infections. Poor boy. I believe it was that night that Emerson woke us up to tell us she puked. She puked all over herself and on the floor in her room. Poor girl. She proceeded to puke a few more times through the night. She would go several hours and then would puke again. In between, she acted fine. We knew that a stomach bug was going around because Casey's sister and her family just went through it, as well as his mom and dad. We were praying that we would not have to endure the same. Not lucky enough. Christmas morning at 4am, mommy started puking. It was the most awful stomach bug! I ached from the inside out and couldn't keep anything down. Thank goodness for grandparents. They came to the rescue when I couldn't even get out of bed. Casey had a feeling he was next. He was right. Around midnight he also began puking. We were out of commission the following day, trying to recover. Finally, after about 48 hours, we felt like we could actually function somewhat normally.

We spent Christmas Eve at Casey's parents, as usual. Everyone seemed fine, so we decided to go. We had a good time celebrating with family and friends. Christmas day was supposed to be spent at our house with my side of the family. That didn't happen! My mom and Lee did come over that morning to watch the kids open presents, but they left as soon as the kids were done. We didn't want to subject anyone else to the possibility of getting sick. Christmas was not at all what we expected. We are happy to say that we all seem to be feeling better and we can only pray that 2012 will be out year for health! Wish us luck!!
