It's been a while since I have written about the kids in regards to what they are up to now. With Emerson starting kindergarten soon, I have been thinking about this post a lot. They have changed so much lately. I look at Eme and can't help but be in denial. My baby girl will soon be going to school 5 days a week! This blog serves as their baby book. I'm so glad I have it to look back on.
Let's start with Emerson. She is my mini me. I call her "little mama" for a reason. I often find myself just looking at her...watching her...realizing that she is growing up so fast. She is doing really well in school and she has almost turned the corner with her separation issues. Almost. She is still a lefty. She loves to color and write letters to people. I find her sitting at the table for hours drawing pictures or coloring. She doesn't just stop there either. An occasional wall is tagged with her amazing art work too. Mommy had to break out the magic eraser...and give it to Eme to clean up her mess. Maybe that will be the end of that. We hope. She is still a great eater. She loves fruit, oatmeal, lunch meat, cheese, and yogurt. One of her favorite meals is "chick pot pie". Her favorite shows to watch have princesses in them and she still loves her super heroes. She likes to be outside and the swing is where she stays glued. Sleep. Oh, sleep. She has pretty much stopped napping. We have quiet time in the afternoon and she must stay in her room quietly during this time. She goes to bed between 7 and 8. She is up anywhere between 4:30 and 6am. When she's up at 4:30 we let her know she's crazy and put her back to bed. If she's up at 6 or later, it's pretty much a lost cause. We have come to realize that she doesn't require as much sleep as others. She spends the occasional time or two in her room for not listening, but for the most part her behavior has improved.
Gavin. Where do I begin? He is all boy. He has morphed into a super hero over night. He loves his power rangers, ninja turtles, and anything pirates. We hear him in his room at night or naptime carrying on a conversation between pirates or super heroes. This can sometimes be a negative. He has started play fighting with other boys at school and that's a big no-no. They don't mean any harm. Just boys being boys. Gavin loves to watch television. We have had to start limiting the amount of time he uses to watch his favorites show. He loves Jake and has recently taken a liking to this really interesting show called Lazy Town. Hey, it teaches him about healthy food. It can't be that bad. It does, however, have a guy who wears head to toe blue spandex. Gavin loves to be outside too. He enjoys riding his bike or chasing his friends around the playground. Gavin is in the transition stages of napping. Some days he will and some days he won't. The days he will, you can hardly wake him up. He also has quiet time in the afternoon. Basically, his quiet time may or may not turn into a nap. He goes down between 7 and 8 and is up around 7am...if his sister doesn't wake him up first! This guy has started to misplace his "listening ears". He is also super messy while eating and slower than molasses! He's still super loveable though!!
