We were fortunate enough to spend Labor Day weekend (plus a few days) at the beach with family. The weather was perfect. The first few days were spent on the beach. I must say, it was a big pain in the butt to carry everything down to the beach and back. The work was well worth it though. The kids had a great time riding the waves with their cousins. I have to say one of the highlights of the trip was watching Tisa chase her kite half way up the beach...only after she told Brian she had it under control. ;) Super funny. I think the kids could have stayed in the water the whole time, only to break on occasion for a snack. After a few days on the beach, we decided we needed a break from the sand (and lugging stuff to and from) and spent the day at the pool.
A few pictures of the kids one evening on the beach.
This picture cracks me up. Emerson is quick to pose like Kayla!
To finish off our trip, we headed to the Fort Fisher Aquarium. If you've been around Gavin lately, you know how obsessed he is with "dive-as". Sea life is his thing right now. Divers, sharks, whales, and even mermaids. They are talked about constantly and played with just as much. There are times at the aquarium where you can talk to a diver. This was perfect for Gavin. He was amazed to see a real life diver right before his eyes. I just love this picture. So neat.
Casey had the idea to take a ferry ride after visiting the aquarium. The kids thought it was pretty neat to drive our car onto a boat! We took the ferry from Fort Fisher to Southport, where we ate lunch before we made the drive home. The kids were exhausted...mama was too.
