If you have talked to Gavin, at any point in the last year, then you know he is obsessed with anything that belongs in the ocean. His favorite being a scuba diver or spear fisherman. I think "obsessed" may be an understatement. On a regular basis, he will ask me when he can get a wet suit. He will ask how old he has to be to scuba dive and where he can practice. When he sits with me at the doctor, he watches scuba divers on YouTube. He can tell you how to make a spear gun, everything you need to know about scuba equipment, and what the biggest fish is in the ocean. He wants to be a marine biologist when he grows up and complains often about how long he has to wait to work with ocean animals.
With his current obsession in mind, planning his 5th birthday party was easy. Gavin wanted a pool party, so we went with an "under the water" theme. Sea animals floating in the pool, whale crackers, a shark fruit platter, pizza, and cupcakes. The weather was a bit stressful for me. Two hours before the party was scheduled to start, it began to rain. Thankfully, the weather cleared up and it was perfect. The kids had a great time and Gavin was so excited to see everyone!
Mom and Lee went above and beyond for their grandson's birthday. They created this scuba diver/spear fisherman for kids to take pictures with. It turned out so cute. I was able to get a picture of most everyone from the party. Oh, and did I mention, Nana and PawPaw also got Gavin a fish tank?! This boy is in heaven.
Daddy did a great job making the shark!
Goody bags!
The awesome cupcakes made by Tisa.
Gavin and Marcus doing "kwondo" right before they jumped into the pool.
Bathing beauties.
Blowing out his candles. 5!!
Happy birthday (party) to my sweet boy!!
