We decided since Emerson had a week off from school, we would spend 4th of July weekend at the beach. We headed down Thursday morning to join Casey's sister and her family at the condo at Topsail. The kids spent most of their time in the pool, avoiding any possibility of a shark attack. ;) The same weekend we were there, a man was attacked by a shark at Surf City. That made shark attack number 8, if I'm not mistaken. The ocean was pretty much off limits to me. If we went into the water, it was only up to our knees. We were not taking any chances. The kids didn't mind because the pool was just as fun.
Casey took the boat so we went fishing one of the mornings we were there. The wind was crazy so we didn't stay out long, but we did catch some small fish. Gavin insisted we put the fish we caught in the live well and then release them when we were done. I was quite impressed that he knew how to pump the water into the boat. I envision years down the road where he is just as obsessed as his father.
