Florida and hurricanes. That would be reason enough for me not to ever live there.
As many of you know, my brother and his family moved to Florida several years ago. That being said, when hurricane season rolls around, we worry. The 2017 hurricane season was a tough one. There were a total of 17 named storms and 10 became hurricanes.
On September 10th, Irma made landfall as a Category 4 storm in the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys were impacted the most. Crazy thing is, Casey was supposed to have a work trip in October and we were planning to stay near Islamorada for a few days. Needless to say, that trip got cancelled.
After following the storms, we all tried to talk Zach into just coming here. He had to wait on work before he could make a decision on what to do. They were scared that they would come here, only for the storm to follow them and then they would be even further from home with 3 littles. They decided to board up their windows and head to Georgia. They stayed in Georgia for a few days and much to their surprise, the storm followed. They decided to head to Raleigh at that point. While we were glad to have them here, we knew how stressful the whole experience had to be for them. They had no idea what was happening to the new home they had just purchased. No idea of the damage. When they got the 'all clear' that it was safe to return, they hopped back in the car for a VERY LONG AND STRESSFUL drive. I'm pretty sure Zach and Bridget will agree...worst possible. They made it home safe and their house was just fine. THEY just needed to recover.
A few pics from their visit.

This girl was in her element with Mattie being here. She's a little mama for sure.
