One of my favorite field trips from when Eme was in 1st grade was the trip to Durant Nature Park. I knew, after going with Eme, that Gavin would have a great time. The kids started with a nature scavenger hunt through the woods, caught all kinds of creatures in the water, had lunch and played on the playground. Gavin was pretty proud of himself because he caught the biggest fish with the net. His daddy would be proud. I thought it was so funny because I had a group of boys and when it came time to sift through the mud to find things, they wanted no part. They left me to dig around and find all the tadpoles and fish. Does anyone else see a problem with that?!? Gavin didn't mind holding the things that were found, he just didn't want to be a part of the mud!
